Supreme Court declares Maratha quota law unconstitutional




54 tonnes of oxygen brought from Bahrain
INS Talwar carrying 40 metric tonnes of medical oxygen landed at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on Wednesday. The medical oxygen was donated by the Bahrain government to the Indian Red Cross Society as a token of goodwill to overcome the current pandemic situation in the country.

U.S. to send about 10% of its vaccines to other countries by July 4: Biden

President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that by July 4 the U.S. will have sent about 10% of the coronavirus vaccines it produced to other countries.

"It's a significant humanitarian commitment in addition to our funding of COVAX, and I'll have more to say about that soon," Biden said, referring to the World Health Organization-led initiative to provide equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.

Bank stocks rise on RBI move, industry welcomes measures

Bank stocks gained on Wed­nesday after the RBI un­veiled measures to support the economy facing head­ winds due to the second wave of the pandemic. Kotak Mahindra Bank jumped 2.42%, Axis Bank 2.41%, Indusind Bank 2.33%, ICICI Bank 1.88%, State Bank of India 1.07% and HDFC Bank 1% on the BSE. The BSE Bank index gained 1.67%. The 30­share BSE index also gained 424.04 points or 0.88 per cent to close at 48,677.55.

    S. Jaishankar (foreign minister) holds virtual meeting
    External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today held a virtual meeting with Foreign Minister of Canada Marc Garneau on the sidelines of G-7 meeting. Both Ministers discussed the COVID challenges in their countries. 

    They also talked about various aspects of the bilateral relationship. Dr Jaishankar and Mr Garneau also exchanged views on Myanmar.
